Fresh from launching an upgraded, more expensive 2019 Lexus RC Coupe range in Australia, Lexus has released a teaser image of the 2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition that will join the range next year.
Previewed by a teaser shot that shows it will feature a huge carbon-fibre rear wing, the special-edition Lexus RC F will make its global debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 15 (AEDT).
No other details about the range-topping Lexus RC F have been revealed, but previous spy shots taken at the Nurburgring indicate it should also bring more aggressive side skirts and front and rear bumpers, plus a tasty carbon-fibre bonnet with prominent vent.
We doubt there will be any changes to the 351kW/530Nm 5.0-litre V8 that powers the existing Lexus RC F – the Toyota Luxury division’s answer to the BMW M4 -- but stranger things have happened.
However, it’s almost certain the track-focussed RC F will score retuned suspension springs and dampers, and -- perhaps -- upgraded brakes and a motorsport-themed interior.
And it’s guaranteed that the sharpest production RC F that Lexus has ever produced will be more expensive than the standard Lexus RC F ($137,729 plus on-road costs).
The Lexus RC F Track Edition could also eclipse the price – and borrow some design elements from – the RC F Carbon special ($151,929 plus ORCs) released in September to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lexus’ F sports sub-brand.
