Diesel 300C unleashed

Chrysler is claiming the new 300C CRD is a first in its class

Chrysler has released a diesel version of its successful 300C executive saloon. Featuring a version of the same 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 which powers both Jeep and Mercedes-Benz models, the 300C CRD is the first vehicle in the upper large segment (under $100,000) to offer a diesel option according to the car maker.

The CRD engine produces 160kW of power and 510Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is frugal with Chrysler’s own stats placing it at 8.2lt /100km combined.

The diesel version joins the 300C SRT8 (read test here), 5.7-litre HEMI V8 and 3.5-litre V6 (read test here) to make a line-up of four models. Priced at $57,990, the CRD is $2000 cheaper than 5.7-litre HEMI V8.

The very first 300C CRD hit Chrysler dealerships last week. Look out for CarPoint’s launch drive impression of the new Chrysler turbodiesel soon.
