Nissan Australia has released its first diesel-powered DUALIS, as part of a revised MY13 model range that also brings navigation and a reversing camera as standard across the range.
Available from May 1 at $29,990 plus on-road costs, the new DUALIS 4x2 TS diesel costs $4000 more than the model upon which it’s based -- the entry-level 2.0-litre petrol-powered DUALIS, which increases in price by $1000 to $25,990 plus ORCs.
The DUALIS’ new R9M 1.6-litre turbo-diesel offers healthy performance (96kW/320Nm) and fuel consumption (just 4.5L/100km), making it the most efficient vehicle in its class.
Thanks in part to the standard fitment of a fuel-saving idle-stop system (a first for Nissan in Australia), the DUALIS diesel is claimed to offer a 1445km driving range from a single tank of fuel.
However, the first diesel DUALIS will only available as an entry-level model with a six-speed manual transmission, meaning it cannot be had with all-wheel drive, seven seats or features from the top-spec Ti-L flagship.
Nissan has also culled the DUALIS range, which was Australia’s top-selling small SUV priced under $40,000 in Australia last year, with the DUALIS and DUALIS+2 seven-seater no longer available in mid-range Ti grade.
The new TS diesel is based on the ST petrol variant but adds front foglights, privacy glass and chrome highlights.
Other additions to the DUALIS line-up include satellite-navigation and a reversing camera as standard across the range, plus new 17-inch alloy wheels for entry-level ST and TS grades.
Nissan’s Around View Monitor technology continues as standard in the Ti-L grades.
The five-seat DUALIS petrol range continues to include the ST 4x2 manual ($25,990), ST 4x2 CVT ($28,490), Ti-L 4x2 manual ($32,190), Ti-L 4x2 CVT ($34,690) and Ti-L 4x4 CVT ($36,440).
The all-CVT, all-petrol DUALIS+2 seven-seat range, meantime, continues to comprise the ST 4x2 ($31,190), Ti-L 4x2 ($36,740) and top-shelf Ti-L 4x4 at $38,940
“The DUALIS is one of our most popular models with its stylish design, rich selection of technology and safety features as well as a seven-seat option in the DUALIS+2,” said Nissan Australia CEO, Bill Peffer.
“With the addition of a turbo-diesel variant and additional features such as satellite navigation and reversing camera across the line-up, the DUALIS and DUALIS+2 represent outstanding value and are now an even more exciting and compelling proposition.”
