Lotus has announced it will offer Elise and Exige V6 owners the option of upgrading their dash to a new full digital cluster.
Claimed to have been created for the many customers who track their car, the new instrument panel works on post-2008 Elise and Exige V6 models and comes with more than 4000 race tracks pre-loaded.
It also gets GPS and lap performance indicators.
Once fitted, the dash allows drivers to easily record lap times and valuable data from their on-track sessions to help them realise where they're losing time.
The unit, claimed to fit Elise and Exige V6 models from 2008 onwards, incorporates a six-inch TFT screen and allows owners to plug in a camera to record the action.
Cleverly, once fitted the new instrument panel recognises when you're near a circuit, switching its mapping automatically. The cluster also allows the data gathered to be analysed, either in real-time or downloaded later using a laptop.
In the UK, Lotus says it will charge £1470 ($A2650) and throw in a two-year warranty.
