Dodge Challenger and Charger Swinger specials revealed

Green-on-green colour scheme makes a limited-run return to the US muscle car market

The 2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Swinger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger have broken cover in the US as the third and fourth ‘Last Call’ special-editions before Dodge discontinues its iconic American V8 muscle cars for good.

Designed as an homage to the classic Dodge Dart Swinger, production of the heritage-styled rear-drive coupe and sedan specials will be capped at 1000 units each and fitted exclusively with factory wide-body kits.

This particular special-edition Challenger is defined by its ‘Gold School’ exterior badging, shaker intake, 20-inch wheels, black six-piston Brembo brakes, retro ‘Swinger’ rear fender graphics, ‘Mod Grain’ wood-like aluminium trim, Nappa leather and Alcantara seats with green stitching and Dodge Rhombi logo, and green Swinger interior instrument panel badging.

All of the same trinkets and touches are applied to the latest Charger special as well, save for the Challenger-specific wide-body badging and the Shaker intake.

No changes have been made to the 6.4-litre HEMI V8s lurking under the bonnet of either model, meaning they still churn out a free-breathing 362kW/658Nm.

Three bespoke colours will be offered for both the coupe and the sedan – F8 Green, Sublime Green and White Knuckle – all of which are paired to a green interior colourway as per the original Dart Swinger.

Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said the original Swinger models “have always held a unique spot in the Dodge muscle-car pantheon” and that these new special-editions bring “that fun back to life”.

“The name says it all – the originals had a unique, fun character, and that’s the same reaction we’re hoping for with our 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger R/T Scat Pack Swinger models,” he said.

The Swingers follow the Dodge Challenger Shakedown and Dodge Charger Super Bee in waving goodbye to the famous internal-combustion muscle cars, with another three Last Call specials to be revealed between now and November 4.

However, Dodge’s proud muscle car performance heritage will live on after the impending death of the monstrous HEMI V8, with an all-electric future previewed via the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept last month.
