Dodge has officially announced its 626kW Challenger SRT Demon will be priced from just $US84,995 ($A110,000) and many major options are priced at a mere $US1 each.
Capable of pulling 1.8g under acceleration, on its way to 100km/h in a staggering 2.3seconds and a quarter mile of just 9.65seconds, Dodge has already declared the Demon the fastest ever rear-drive production V8.
On sale exclusively in North America from the third quarter, the Demon comes equipped with a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine. In essence, this is the same powerplant fitted to the 527kW Challenger SRT Hellcat but, for the Demon, almost all its internals are new.
Crucial to unlock the full potential of the new Demon is the optional 'Demon Crate' which permits use of 100-octane race fuel to deliver the full output of 626kW.
As well as the ECU change for the engine, the performance pack adds narrow front drag racing wheels, a high-flow air filter, cordless wheels and tools like a jack and torque wrench to help you swap the street rims.
In total, the cost of the box's contents is more than $US6140 ($A8200) but the Dodge Crate will be sold for just $US1 (A$1.33).
The same one buck charge applies for a front passenger seat, rear passenger bench or boot liner.
Other more expensive options are available for those who still demand creature comforts in their stripped-out street-legal dragster.
Dodge says leather heated and cooled seats will cost Demon owners $US1595 ($A2100) and if you tire of being deafened by the thunderous blown V8, a sound system will set you back $US995 (A$1400).
For the style conscious, an outlay of $US3495 ($A4600) buys satin black paint for the bonnet, roof and bootlid.
Even a sunroof is available, although Dodge reportedly doesn't want you to have one - it ruins the Demon's centre-of-gravity - hence the $US4995 ($A6700) price tag.
Many Dodge Demon buyers will reckon the best optional extra is one which comes for free: a day of driving instruction at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona.
Dodge says it will build just 3300 Demons and, in order to prevent mass vehicle speculation and sky-high prices, will stamp the original owner's name on the VIN plate under the bonnet.
