Dodge targets youth with free insurance
Dodge is aggresively targeting youth and new car buyers with an innovative new offerAll new Dodge vehicles will come with two years free comprehensive insurance, no ifs no buts.
The announcement was made this morning at the launch of Dodge's new medium SUV, the Nitro (more here).
The offer will be extended to all Dodge models Down Under.
Currently, Dodge targets just buyers of the Caliber small hatch with the new offer, but by year end will also extend the offer to buyers of the Nitro and the Avenger mid-size sedan (all pictured, in order), which shares mechanicals with the Chrysler Sebring.
Dodge estimates free insurance could save some buyers more than $3600 in the first two years of ownership. The insurance will feature a $450 excess.
The cover is underwritten by QBE insurance and Dodge says attractive rates will be offered to extend beyond the two-year period.
Free insurance is unique to Dodge in Australia and is not currently offered by the maker anywhere else in the world.
Chrysler Group Sales Manager Brad Fitzsimmons said "Our insurance offer will help us target younger buyers. Insurance can be onerous and a real burden to new drivers."
According to Fitzsimmons, the offer will commence as Nitro hits the showrooms.
The only proviso is a valid driver's licence. There are no age limitations to the offer.
The Nitro will debut with a base SX model priced from $36,990. With the added value Dodge's insurance offer adds, it's clear the maker is serious in targeting the main medium SUV players.
