Donkervoort has teased its 2016 line-up in a new image posted on social media.
In a press release, issued along with this single darkened pic, the Dutch car-maker described 2016 as the “perfect moment for a next step: a step further, a step bigger, a step more extreme”.
The three cars displayed are said to be the new D8 GTO-S, the D8 GTO-RS and the D8 GTO-R.
Little is known about how they differ from the current D8 GTO except that they are expected to be even lighter than the standard car’s already lithe 700kg and produce more power from the Audi TT RS-sourced 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder. Not that the current D8 GTO lacked in that department, producing a very respectable 280kW/450Nm.
This means, as impossible as it sounds, that the fastest D8 in the revised range could beat the old GTO’s 2.8 seconds dash to 100km/h, eclipse the GTO’s 8.6-second sprint to 200km/h and exceed its 270km/h top speed.
Despite revealing no technical specs, Donkervoort has released pricing for the new line up. The most comfortable D8 GTO-S (S is for street) will cost $175,000 (all prices plus local taxes) and be available from March.
The D8 GTO-RS, meanwhile, is said to have been developed ‘from scratch’ and arrives in June and is priced from around $230,000.
Finally, the D8 GTO-R (R is for race) is not road-legal, but will be available by late 2016 priced for a cool $380,000.
Expect more teases of the new range in the next few months.
