A 26-year-old disqualified driver will face court after Police found him with altered number plates in Adelaide early on Wednesday morning.
A South Australian Police patrol spotted a Mitsubishi sedan along John Rice Avenue in Adelaide’s north around 2am driving without its headlights on and with an altered number plates.
Police stopped the man and on closer inspection discovered that the existing number plates had been defaced and altered.
"The number plates had in fact been painted over and hand-painted with different characters a helpful message." Police said.
On South Australian numberplates, the tag line standard-issue plates carry is “SA – The Festival State” while this alleged altered plate had the phrase “Not stolen ok” inscribed on it instead.
The driver from Rosetown in the state's south-east was reported for driving disqualified, driving with defaced number plates, driving unregistered and uninsured and driving at night without lights.
Police said that the man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
