DUALIS price drop

New front-wheel drive Nissan DUALIS expected to cut thousands off 4WD price

Nissan will be launching a newer, more affordable version of its DUALIS compact soft-roader for Australian drivers in August. As previously announced the new model will start in the mid-$20,000 range filling a crucial hole in the line-up between the Tiida and DUALIS 4WD (see here).

Though Nissan hasn't specified when the new two-wheel drive model will enter the market, but with the media launch set for August the new DUALIS should be in showrooms sometime in the third quarter. It is expected to be priced from well under $30,000, undercutting most compact AWDs currently on offer and instead tackle the traditional hatchback segment alongside the Tiida.

Based on pricing details the competition running on www.DiscountNewCars.com.au, which is giving away a $31,160 (more here) Nissan DUALIS 2WD ST CVT model with metallic paint, the bare-bones manual versions are likely be a few thousand dollars cheaper, possibly starting from around $26,000 before on road costs.

Nissan Australia communicated to the Carsales Network that prices will start in the "mid-twenties" and would be announced in August.

Powered by a 2.0-litre engine, the upcoming front-wheel DUALIS model should have improved fuel efficiency is expected to increase interest in the compact Nissan hatch with its more affordable sticker price.

It already has a five-star ANCAP rating and includes extras like 16-inch alloy wheels and cruise control among other things. We'll have more details on the exact price of the compact SUV soon, so stay tuned.
