
The three millionth Fiat Ducato has rolled of the Italian company's Val di Sangro production line.
The actual vehicle, a Ducato Maxi Van equipped with Fiat's 2.3 JTD 16-valve turbodiesel engine was purchased by a German customer from a dealer in Düsseldorf.
The Val di Sangro plant was commissioned specifically for the Ducato family in 1981. Its inital capacity of 350 vehicles a day has been expanded to cope with the wider Ducato family and now sits at 900 units per day.
Ducato is the second most popular light commercial vehicle sold in Europe and was the top selling van for the first ten months of 2005. Fiat offers more than 600 versions and 140 options across the Ducato family.
Sevel Val di Sangro is the largest light commercial vehicle plant in Europe. It is located between the towns of Atessa and Paglieta in the Chieti Province and employs 5250 workers.
