BMW has announced the diesel-powered 640d Gran Coupe for Australia has gone into production with effect from this month.
Priced at $184,800, the newest variant to join the 6 Series Gran Coupe range should be reaching the local showrooms in May. Under the bonnet is BMW's all-alloy 3.0-litre diesel six, rated at 230kW and 630Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h takes just 5.4 seconds, yet fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are held down to no more than 5.7L/100km and 149g/km, respectively, in combined-cycle testing.
“The BMW 640d Gran Coupé received critical acclaim when it was launched internationally last year,” said BMW Australia MD, Phil Horton. “This diesel engine has effortless and efficient performance and will add additional appeal to the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé line-up.”
Trimmed to the same level as the petrol-powered 640i, the new variant comes equipped as standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, head-up display, reversing camera, four-zone climate control, adaptive LED headlights with high beam assist, professional navigation system, multi-functional instrument display and smart phone connectivity. Additionally, the M Sport Package can be specified for the car, at no extra cost.
