Eclectic mix at Mossgreen auction

Circle December 10 on your calendar for the chance to snap up a four or two-wheel rarity

The automotive department at auctioneer Mossgreen will be serving up a delectable dish of cars and motorcycles at its December 10 auction.

Scheduled for 2.30pm in the Melbourne suburb of Armadale, the auction will be headlined by a collection of 11 cars, including an Australian-delivered 1991 R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R ‘Godzilla’ which is expected to go under the hammer for between $60,000 and $70,000.

The Japanese supercar will be joined by an iconic 1955 Series 1 Land Rover which is being sold with no reserve, plus a Mini Moke with a difference – the surviving member of two, possibly three four wheel drive prototypes produced in Australia for evaluation in 1979 - estimated to bring between $33,000 and $39,000.

Almost as rare is a Vignale-styled 1968 Fiat 125 Samantha two-door coupe. Based on the 125 sedan which was sold in Australia during the period, the Samantha debuted at the Turin motor show in 1967 but had a short production run of only 100 vehicles. Mossgreen expects the fully restored coupe to bring between $45,000 and $50,000 at auction.

Among the single-cylinder, 500cc motorcycles up for auction are a 1926 BSA side-valve which should sell between $16,000 and $20,000, a 1935 Triumph 550 side-valve estimated at between $10,000 and $12,000 and two Norton Model 18s – a 1949 model valued at between $12,000 and $14,000, and a 1950 model expected to see bidding between $8,000 and $10,000. There’s also a very special BSA Empire Star built to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V which is anticipated to see interest in the range of $12,000 to $14,000.

The cars and motorcycles will be available for viewing at 935 High Street Armadale between 10am and 5pm on December 7, 8 and 9, and between 9am and 12 noon on auction day.
