A decade of Commodore exports to Brazil is punctuated by the South American launch of the latest generation VE modelsOne year after Holden introduced the VT Commodore locally in 1997, the company began exporting LHD versions around the world.
Gulf country exports are the bread and butter export sales (more here), but Holden has also been exporting the Commodore to Brazil during the same period.
Named Opel Omega when launched in VT form, the Brazilian Commodore is now marketed as the Chevrolet Omega, Chevrolet now being GM's international brand name.
To date, Holden has shipped 9000 units of the Commodore to Brazil since 1998. The VE model will be capable of running on E24 fuel (a local blend of petrol with 24 per cent ethanol by volume).
In Brazil, the Omega is the flagship of the Chevrolet line-up and, according to Holden, has been well received by the local motoring press.
