Electric Peugeot E-3008 confirmed
Peugeot’s battery-powered 3008 mid-size SUV will have striking looks and offer a range up to 700kmPeugeot is preparing to launch the all-electric 2023 Peugeot E-3008 in the second half of this year, offering a choice of three powertrains and a driving range of up to 700km.
Heavily inspired by the recent Peugeot Inception concept, the E-3008 will boast more rakish styling and sport the French brand’s striking ‘claw’ lighting signature.
Confirmed as the first Stellantis Group model to be based on its all-new STLA Medium architecture, Peugeot says the E-3008 will be all-new from the ground up and come with the choice of three powertrains that will include a dual-motor variant providing for all-wheel drive.
Battery sizes have not been released but the French brand says it will offer a long-range version that will cover up to 700km between top-ups.
A larger Peugeot E-5008 will follow, sharing the same platform and powertrains but offering a third row of seating to help it battle the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
Crucially, the dedicated EV architecture underpinning Peugeot’s new SUVs will offer more space, superior packaging and better efficiency than current electrified models.
As well as teasing the E-3008, Peugeot has also given us a glimpse of the seven new electric cars it will release in the near future, five of which will arrived over the next two years.
Beyond the E-3008 and the E-5008, the new EVs will include the E-308, E-308 SW wagon and E-408 crossover.
All future battery-powered Peugeots will introduce the same sleeker styling and ‘claw’ light signature.
Meanwhile, Peugeot says the all-electric 308 hatch will bag its all-new electric motor technology that produces 115kW but offers greater efficiency than current motors, helping it cover up to 400km on a charge while average 12.7kWh.
Despite teasing its future all-electric offerings, Peugeot says it will also start rolling out its new mild-hybrid tech on the 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008 and 408 this year.
The more efficient powertrain is said to blend its 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission that neatly incorporates a 21kW electric motor within.
Claimed to boost low-end torque, Peugeot says the new electrified powertrains reduce fuel consumption by 15 per cent on average. In urban driving, the 3008 and similar-sized models will now operate more than 50 per cent of the time in all-electric mode, slashing localised emissions.
Peugeot has already declared that by 2023 every model in its line-up will be electrified. By 2025 it will have a 100 per cent pure-electric version of each model and, by 2030, its entire range in Europe will be 100 per cent EV.
Ultimately, by 2038 the Peugeot brand will be net carbon zero.
