Spanish city car points the way for all VW Group electric modelsStruggling Spanish car maker Seat will deliver a much-needed shot in the arm with an all-electric city car at the Geneva Motor Show.
Penned by Lamborghini Gallardo designer, Luc Donckerwolke, the IBE city car not only adds some starch to Seat's future hopes, but points the way to the future design language of all future models as well. It's also demonstartes the work being done by the Volkswagen Group on electric drivetrain technology.
With 150kW of power and 200Nm of torque, the slick city car will sprint to 50km/h in 3.4 seconds, 80km/h in 6.3 and 100km/h in 9.4 seconds -- all with zero tailpipe emissions.
SEAT President James Muir insisted the IBE was a continuation of its efficient city car strategy, saying work was continuing on both plug-in hybrid and electric technologies.
"With the IBE, we are demonstrating that, for SEAT, electric mobility will always be combined with excellent design and outstanding driving fun," he said.
The 2+2 Seat zero-emission concept has an electric motor under the flat bonnet and a Lithium-Ion battery sitting in the rear.
It's also light for an electric model, weighing just 1000kg.
