The News

Chinese electronics brand Dreame will expand beyond vacuums and smart home products to launch a full EV line-up in Australia in early 2027, including high-performance models under its Nebula Next division. The company is claiming Rimac-rivalling acceleration as it makes a bold pivot from consumer tech to hypercar-level electric vehicles.

The Key Details

  • Initial models expected to be electric SUVs under the new “Star Motor” brand
  • Nebula Next hypercars to follow, targeting 1399kW and 0-100km/h in 1.8 secs

The Finer Details

Dreame Technology, best known globally for its vacuum cleaners and smart home products, revealed its automotive ambitions at the Appliances and Electronics World Expo in Shanghai.

Australia and New Zealand will be the company’s first markets outside China, with its debut range arriving after Dreame-branded EVs launch in China later this year.

The first arrivals are expected to be electric SUVs introduced under a new sub-brand called “Star Motor”.

Further up the range, Dreame plans to introduce its Nebula Next performance division, which has unveiled two concept vehicles: the Nebula Next 01 four-door hypercar and Next 01X SUV.

Both sit on a shared quad-motor platform producing a claimed 1399kW/23,000Nm, with Dreame targeting 0-100km/h in 1.8 seconds, matching the Rimac Nevera, which carsales previously crowned the world’s quickest production car.

The company says the cars use an in-house composite material called ‘Blue Carbon Fibre’, developed after traditional carbon-fibre reportedly failed stress testing.

Dreame also showcased its progress on battery technology, displaying a 60Ah ultra-large all-solid-state battery cell which it plans to mass produce by the end of this year.

The company claims its solid-state cell already exceeds 450Wh/kg and says it is targeting more than 800Wh/kg in future iterations.

Local development is underway, including tuning for Australian roads and compliance with local regulations, though Dreame has not yet confirmed distribution partners.

The Road Ahead

The brand aims to finalise its Australian launch plans by late 2026, ahead of cars reaching showrooms in early 2027.

As Dreame transitions from consumer electronics to automotive manufacturing, the success of its solid-state battery program and performance EV strategy will determine how competitive its models are in an increasingly crowded market.

More details on pricing, specifications and model line-ups are expected closer to launch.
