Automotive engineers take note, the Automotive Engineering Excellence Awards (AEEA) are fast approaching.
The awards are open to engineers and companies in the automotive field and are a way of promoting the industry and innovations in the field.
There are two categories for the awards, the Young Engineer and Automotive Engineering Excellence awards, which culminate in a gala dinner for industry leaders, automotive professionals and the media.
According to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) which organises the annual event, it is designed to recognise "excellence in automotive engineering, manufacturing, design and quality to help raise the standards and public perception of the Australian automotive and related industries."
Winners of the 2008 AEEA included Hella Australia, which took out the gold for its MegaLUX lighting systems designed for the mining industry, while Ford Australia won the silver award for the 4.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine that powers high-grade FG Falcon models.
Bronze was taken out by DV Experts International for its development, design, testing and implementation of a High Performance Rollover Protection Systems (ROPS) for Light Vehicles.
Entries for the AEEA will close on Friday the 25th of September, and Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be handed out at the black tie gala dinner.
