Enhanced 2025 GWM Haval H6 tools up

New look, refined interior, more power and two new PHEV powertrains headline H6 update

The overhauled 2025 GWM Haval H6 medium SUV has arrived Down Under with a new emphasis on electrification, performance and elegance.

Available mid-month, the new model starts from $35,990 drive-away for the base Lux petrol and tops out at $50,990 for the flagship Ultra PHEV AWD.

Looking a whole lot sleeker than its predecessor, the new H6 is 50mm longer from nose to tail and will be offered with the choice of turbo-petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, the former bringing more power and torque than before.

The base mill is still a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit, but it’s now paired with a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and outputs 170kW/380Nm, all of which is sent to the front wheels.

Fuel economy is a claimed 7.4L/100km (NEDC).

The plugless hybrid system meantime is the only untouched powertrain in the range and continues to output a combined 170kW/530Nm while consuming a claimed 5.2L/100km.

Above that is a new front-drive plug-in system good for 240kW/540Nm and offering a claimed electric range of up to 106km on a full charge of its 19.1kWh battery pack, totalling 1106km when paired with a full tank of fuel.

The 1.0L/100km fuel consumption claim is the best of the range, but only just; the significantly more powerful all-wheel drive version gets awfully close with 1.1L/100km.

Said system is good for 268kW/760Nm courtesy of a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine – the same one powering the other hybrids – and an electric motor on each axle that propel it up 100km on EV power and contribute to the 1043km total fuel range.

Zero-100km/h takes 4.8 seconds while the battery pack can be recharged from 30-80 per cent in 28 minutes when using a DC fast charger (at 34kW).

Inside the cabin of all variants you’ll find a revamped interior with a focus on minimalism and practicality: a column shifter frees up room on the centre console for more storage and a wireless phone charger, a 14.6-inch infotainment system ups the tech presence, the redesigned steering wheel is better to hold and an automatic park brake adds convenience.

Headline equipment on the Lux grade includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, Comfort Tek upholstery, dual-zone climate control, six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, the aforementioned infotainment system, keyless entry and start, an eight-speaker sound system and adaptive cruise control.

The Ultra builds on this with a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, powered passenger seat, nine-speaker sound system, memory function for the driver set-up, a head-up display, heated steering wheel and rear privacy glass.

All variants are covered by GWM’s seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with the hybrid batteries covered for eight years.
