GWM has just teased a new 5.3m-long flagship SUV as the first model underpinned by its next-generation ‘GWM One’ platform, which will eventually bear more than 50 models globally.

Tipped to debut with a Wey badge, the new luxury three-row SUV is as long as most mid-sized dual-cabs and features a punchy new 2.0-litre turbo-petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.
However, the One platform will supposedly support fuel cell, internal combustion, battery-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
According to GWM, the new Hyundai Palisade and Zeekr 9X-rivalling model will be able to add up to 200km of electric range after just five minutes connected to a compatible fast charger, thanks to an 800-volt electrical architecture and 6C battery pack.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will be responsible for managing the powertrain – along with the chassis and driver aids – and its resulting performance and efficiency, with the former headlined by a promised 4.4-second sprint from 0-100km/h and the latter by a maximum fuel range of more than 1300km.
Even when the hybrid battery is low on charge, GWM says the One SUV will still consume an average of 6.3 litres per 100km.
Much like Toyota’s TNGA platform, GWM One will have monocoque and ladder-frame versions aimed at road and off-road models respectively – each capable of housing single- and dual-motor electric-drive powertrains.
As for the overall look of the vehicle, it’s hard to draw any concrete conclusions from the camouflaged prototype and CGI tech renders, but there’s a definite familiarity here… think a scaled up Omoda 9 with a whiff of Chery Tiggo 9 and Leapmotor C10 thrown in.

It’s unclear exactly when the GWM One SUV – not its production name – will debut.
However, the advanced teaser and platform revelation this report is based on suggests it will likely break cover later this year and go on sale locally in 2027.
Perhaps more importantly, we’re almost guaranteed to see it Down Under, along with plenty of other next-generation models “from SUVs?to sports cars”.
“GWM One models will enter key markets across Europe and Eurasia, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa,” GWM CEO Mu Feng said.
