The Bay to Birdwood Run, South Australia's renowned classic car event, is accepting entries for 2016.
Scheduled to run on Sunday, September 25, the Bay to Birdwood is in its 36th year. For 2016 organisers have modified the route, which will finish at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood, as in other years.
"Due to the long term major road works in the East Parklands and after consultation with a number of stakeholders an alternative route to Hackney Road has been choosen," said event chairman, Mal Hyde.
The revised route will run from Barratt Reserve, West Beach via Anzac Highway, Cross Road, Portrush Road, Payneham Road and Lower North East road to Houghton, before detouring through Inglewood and Gumeracha to Birdwood.
From this year, vehicles are eligible if they've been built prior to December 31, 1959, and there will be a new judging category for unrestored vehicles.
"We are pleased to announce a first for historic motoring events in Australia by introducing a new judging category called the Preservation Class. It is for vehicles that are substantially unaltered, unrestored and not modified," Hyde explained.
"There are a number of changes to this years event but they are vital to its success and longevity. We are committed to delivering a wonderful iconic South Australian event for motoring enthusiasts, local communities, families and tourists."
Entries can be lodged online via the website, or phone the National Motor Museum on (08) 8568 4022. Organisers advise that entries will close on August 5.
