Equus, Hyundai's high horse

Larger than the rear-wheel drive Genesis, the Equus is Hyundai's answer to LWB luxury cars from BMW, MB and Lexus

Korean website 'The Car Blogger' has published photos lifted from what appears to be an official brochure of a new luxury large car from Hyundai.

Named Equus, the new model will be powered by the same V6 and V8 engine options (3.8-litre and 4.6-litre displacement, respectively) that power the company's Genesis rear-driver which recently won North American Car of the Year (more here).

According to the Korean report, the Equus was due to be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Salon from early next month, but the global launch for the car -- which Hyundai is pinning its hopes on beating BMW's 7 Series, the Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS460 -- has been delayed a further week.

As outlined in our earlier report, the Genesis is not coming to Australia, so don't expect to see the Equus here either.
