Eric Bana sets aside time for charity race

TAG Heuer invites the rich and famous to assist with worthy cause

With high profile roles in 'Black Hawk Down', 'Chopper', 'The Incredible Hulk' and current Aussie drama 'Romulus, My Father', Eric Bana (pictured) is one of the names who recently lent support to a charity promotion arranged by TAG Heuer, the Swiss watchmaker with the historic motor sport connection.

Bana's involvement in the project, which was titled 'Dream Machines driven by Generous Heart' was a result of his appearances in big-budget Hollywood blockbusters, but the actor rose to fame for his comic part in 'The Castle' and featuring in his own TV show.

He established his enthusiast credentials when he ran off the road in his nicely prepared XB Falcon Hardtop during this year's Targa Tasmania.

The TAG Heuer project brought together celebrities from all over the world to take part in a motor racing event at the Circuit Paul Ricard High-Tech Test Track in Le Castellet, southern France.

A 'coffee table' book picturing the celebs with their favourite sports/GT cars was launched on the day of the race.

All proceeds from the book sales are going to TAG Heuer's charity of choice, 'Save the Children' -- a charity that supports children in need of proper healthcare, food, education and protection in over 100 countries around the world.

Apart from Bana, whose choice of vehicle for the event was a Porsche GT3, others to take part included three F1 drivers, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and David Coulthard; musicians Jay Kay and Nick Mason; ice skater Katarina Witt and actor Timothy Dalton.
