Europe bags celebratory Ford Mustang 55

Anniversary 'Stang gets special exterior and interior upgrades to mark 55 years of Mustang production

Ford is celebrating 55 years of Ford Mustang production with a special-edition for Europe featuring subtle upgrades inside and out.

Based on the Ford Mustang GT and its unchanged 339kW/556Nm 5.0-litre V8, the Ford Mustang 55 is available in Europe in both coupe and convertible form, fitted with either the six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.

Featuring black badging, the Mustang 55 gets racing stripes along its bonnet and doors, plus a black roof, black 19-inch alloy wheels and a black grille.

Finally, all Mustang 55 models get remote start and vehicle locator as standard.

As well as the Mustang 55, Ford Europe has also announced it will offer entry-level 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost versions of the Mustang with 19-inch alloys, bonnet stripes, revised door mirrors, a different front grille and boot spoiler all inspired by its GT350 and GT500 Shelby models.

It's not yet known if the Mustang 55 or Shelby-inspired accessories will be offered Down Under.
