Evo X and Ralliart Lancers

Mitsubishi's two new high performance Lancer twins break cover

We'll put you out of your misery immediately. The dark grey car pictured here is Mitsubishi's new Lancer Evo X and the silver car, without the flared wheel arches and rear spoiler is the Lancer Ralliart.

Pictures were snapped by our detail-oriented spy photographers, Carparazzi. According to them, the Evo X will be sold with the option of a paddle-shift manual transmission and automatic clutch. This system will operate in three modes, 'Normal', 'Sport' and 'Super Sport'. 'Super Sport' is there for use during motor sport competition and is allegedly brutal.

Mitsubishi expects the paddle-shift transmission to account for 80 per cent of Evo X sales in Europe.

The Ralliart Lancer prototype in silver is turbocharged (the intercooler is visible in the nose) and features dual exhaust outlets and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Both cars are likely to appear at the Tokyo motor show in November.
