The fourth running of the Carmageddon exhibition, which is billed as one of Australia’s best one-day automotive innovation conferences, kicks off in Brisbane on July 22.
This year’s Carmageddon will host a range of EVs and innovative new products as academic and industry experts deliver keynote speeches and host discussions around automotive advances.
Some of the electric vehicles on display at the 2021 Carmageddon expo will include the Audi e-tron, Nissan LEAF, Renault Kangoo ZE, Hyundai Kona Electric and MINI Cooper SE, along with e-bikes and commercial EVs such as Australia’s own ACE-EV, which benefitted from a $5 million federal government grant to kick start its business.
“Carmageddon has become the signature event on the Australian automotive calendar, and we are really excited about this year’s program,” said Rod Camm, CEO of MTA Queensland, which organises the event.
“With advancements in areas like automotive waste management and recycling, electric and autonomous vehicles, mobility as a service, clean fuels like hydrogen and its supporting infrastructure, vehicle-to-vehicle communication and advancements in sensor technology, it has never been more important to learn how these will shape future business models to exploit incredible opportunity,” he said.
The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is set to showcase “mind-blowing technology” in the vehicle sensor field and also will showcase the creation of carbon-fibre from tyres.
Other exhibitors will include companies retrofitting cars with electric motors, new chassis developments and of course a range of subject matter experts delivering keynote speeches.
These will include Professor Michael Milford, Acting Director for the QUT Centre for Robotics, Electrical Engineering and Robotics School, and Dr Anna Kaksonen, Group Leader for Industrial Biotechnology at the CSIRO.
We’ll have reporters on the ground so stay tuned for all the latest news from Carmageddon in late July.
