Ex-Ford Performance brains trust goes global

The engineering firm that developed FPV Falcons has formed an alliance with a German multinational

Premcar, the company formerly contracted to engineer worked Falcons for Ford Performance Vehicles, has joined forces with RLE International, a multinational engineering consultancy with headquarters based in Germany.

This alliance opens up opportunities for Premcar, which is known in the local market for its work on automotive, aviation, defence and marine projects throughout Australia and the Asia/Pacific region. Naturally the company is best known in Australia for its work on the product range of the now defunct Ford Performance Vehicles.

The two companies will work collaboratively on projects requiring an efficient, around-the-clock development programme. And Premcar will be better placed to compete for business by drawing on the extra resources available through RLE International. For the German company, there's now an outpost in a previously untapped market, to boost business and brand awareness in a B2B context.

"Premcar has long flown under the public radar, our work is always in the background with the manufacturers themselves and inevitably highly confidential," Premcar Engineering Director Bernie Quinn explained.

"For more than 20 years Premcar has played a major role in the engineering of Australian-made and Australian-developed global vehicles, as well as providing high-tech engineering solutions for the defence, aviation and marine industries.

"RLE International is in a similar global space, with operations in the USA, UK, India, Spain and China but not Australia, so creating this collaboration strengthens both businesses."

In addition, Premcar will support a local arm of RLE International's labour leasing division, to be named RLE International Australia.

"Just as industry has increasingly out-sourced its engineering over the past few years seeking ever-greater cost efficiencies and access to innovative engineering solutions, so too these companies have moved to a contract labour model where they employ personnel for a specific project or period," says Quinn.

"RLE International Australia will now be able to offer employers world-class personnel with the specialist skills required, from a global database, and with the experience to properly evaluate new candidates before submitting them for roles.

"And for the employee, RLE International Australia now provides an employment facilitator that has access to global opportunities and a link to a credible engineering organisation, versus a traditional generalist employment agency."
