
Alonso, teammate Giancarlo Fisichella and fellow F1 drivers including Kimi Raikkonen and Mark Webber were at Melbourne's Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club early this week, teaming up with some of Australia's finest tennis names including John Fitzgerald, Jason Stoltenberg, Wally Masur and Wayne Arthurs.
Alonso and Fitzgerald won the final match, against Fisichella and retired tour player Paul Kilderry.
The 'Pit Stop Tennis Pro-Am', held in Barcelona for the past five years, was organised to help raise funds for 'TLC for Kids' and the Cancer Council of Tasmania. The two charities are aligned with the Mark Webber Challenge Foundation.
"To have the event in Melbourne where F1 drivers mix it with Aussie tennis pros on court, is fantastic," says Webber.
"It's always been casual and fun but there's also an element of serious competition... It's fantastic we have the support of so many F1 drivers and tennis stars -- and importantly it's all in aid of needy Australian children who require support, and what a great way to help them out."
