Facelifted Jeep Gladiator teased

Reveal of upgraded dual-cab 4x4 ute set for early hours of this Thursday morning

The facelifted 2024 Jeep Gladiator has been officially teased ahead of its world debut at the Detroit motor show this Wednesday – early Thursday in Australia.

Set to be livestreamed on Facebook, the updated dual-cab 4x4 ute’s world premiere has been loosely previewed via the social media platform, with two snippets of the front wing and rear corner featuring on the Facebook event banner.

The new model is widely expected to don some revised styling cues and an updated interior, as per the related Wrangler SUV, but also adopt a 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain to go with the Gladiator’s familiar 3.6-litre Pentastar petrol V6, which is tipped to carry over unchanged.

The design changes were unofficially previewed earlier this year when an uncamouflaged prototype was spotted with a smaller grille, redesigned indicators, new bumpers and fresh tail-lights.

Cabin changes will almost certainly mirror those made to the Wrangler earlier in the year, comprising a new 12.3-inch UConnect5 infotainment touch-screen, redesigned air-vents and a heap of other tech updates.

Tougher componentry – including a Dana 44 HD fully-floating rear axle and supporting tweaks – should also be waiting in the wings for the flagship Rubicon grade to help boost its already impressive off-road prowess and perhaps its mediocre towing capabilities.

Jeep Australia is yet to confirm any plans for the facelifted Wrangler, which means it’ll probably be a while before we hear anything regarding the updated Gladiator’s local release, but we’d expect the new model to arrive Down Under this time next year.

The 2024 Gladiator’s imminent reveal comes as Jeep kills off the pick-up in Europe, where its demise is being signalled by the limited release of the FarOut Final Edition: a V6 diesel-only special based on the Overland variant but decked-out with a series of unique styling and equipment touches.
