British fast Ford tuner Mountune has announced that it will soon release a full power-boosting package for the Blue Oval's new Focus RS, which arrives in showrooms mid-year but is aleady sold out until mid-2017.
Details of the power upgrades are unknown, but expect a significant boost over the current car’s 257kW/440Nm 2.3-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder.
What is known is Mountune will offer tweaks to improve the induction noise, shorten the gearshifts and strengthen the engine mounts in anticipation of more power.
Already on offer from the Mountune store are lightweight 19-inch OZ Racing wheels, a high-flow air filter, stickier Michelin Pilot Cup 2 and, even a front-mounted limited-slip differential engineered especially for the Focus RS by Quaife.
Mountune is said to have developed the forthcoming Focus RS performance pack at the Nurburgring in Germany and carried out tens of thousands of kilometres of durability testing.
Ford is yet to confirm local availability, but it's almost certain be offered here, following Ford Australia's decision in February to import Mountune kits for both Fiesta and Focus ST owners.
The Moutune upgrades will be backed by Ford’s three-year/100,000km factory warranty when fitted from new. Kits fitted after sale, meanwhile, will see the balance of the manufacturer’s warranty apply or a extra 12 months/20,000km -- whichever is longer.
Pricing for the full-fat Focus RS Mountune kit is likely to be around the same $4135 that Ford charges for the Focus ST MP275 upgrade.
