
Rampaging sales of small cars and prestige brand imports have knocked the stuffing out of the market for locally-made large cars, especially their long-wheelbase Ford and Holden variants – Fairlane and LTD, and Statesman and Caprice.
So much so, that Ford has admitted it may stop building Fairlanes and LTDs.
At his monthly motoring media briefing in Sydney late last week, Ford Australia boss Tom Gorman confirmed that production of the Falcon’s long-wheelbase variants was under review.
