Last week it was the Falcon XR8 and XR6 performance leaders, and now Ford has presented the first official image of the 2014 Falcon G6E.
Our first look at the luxury flagship of the facelifted Falcon line-up, which goes on sale in December, reveals it will wear the same new-look front-end design as the XR sports sedans.
However, as is tradition, the G6E ups the luxury ante with a chromed four-bar grille to replace the XRs black honeycomb item, large multi-spoke alloy wheels, chromed foglight surrounds, a chromed front-quarter vent, other discreet chrome bright-work and, like the XR8, side mirror repeaters.
Naturally, the top-shelf G6E – a nameplate that continues the legacy of the long-running Fairmont Ghia – also wears the latest and last Falcon's narrower new headlights incorporating 'twin-hockey stick' daytime running lights.
Interior updates are likely to be limited to an updated Ford SYNC multimedia system, but the G6E will offer the most sophisticated version of the new infotainment technology.
“The G6E provides a new level of design detailing," said 2014 Falcon Exterior Design Manager, Nima Nourian.
"Even casually glancing at the G6E you can see it’s a premium vehicle. There’s some fine craftsmanship in the bright-work and the way the front and rear design treatments mesh with the jewellery on the car. It’s very well executed, even down to the front fender vent.”
Ford Australia President Bob Graziano stressed the 2014 Falcon and Territory, which was also revealed today, are just the first in a series of new Fords to arrive between now and 2017, by which time Ford says it will have refreshed or completely updated its entire line-up.
“We’ve only just started,” Graziano said. “With the arrival of the 2014 Falcon and Territory, we’re ramping up to enhance our product portfolio and provide a comprehensive range of vehicles that our customers value and desire.
"Among the vehicles arriving next year are the iconic Ford Mustang, all-new Mondeo and Everest SUV.”
