Alfa Romeo has updated the flagship version of its sole SUV, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with a whole host of new technologies and exterior tweaks to ensure it remains relevant in 2020.
Revealed on the same day as the BMW M3-rivalling 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the refreshed Stelvio Q mirrors some of the welcome additions gained by the mid-size sports sedan.
These changes are in addition to updates applied across the range as part of a mid-life MY20 facelift for the mid-size sedan and SUV, neither of which have yet been confirmed for Australia.
Set to go on sale in Europe later this year, the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q gets new darkened LED tail-lights, new gloss-black 21-inch alloy rims, black badging and three new exterior colours – 6C Villa d’Este Red, GT Junior Ocra and Montreal Green – all of which pay tribute to famous Alfas of the past.
As with the updated Giulia Q, there are some new sporty new options that allow owners to add some visual impact to their Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
These include a new front grille, mirror caps and rear spoiler all made of lightweight carbon-fibre.
Inside, the refresh introduces a new leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, plus the option of red or green seat belts, instead of the standard black belts.Other updates include the introduction of a new 8.8-inch infotainment system that has a new interface and a special menu for performance driving, comprising a turbo boost pressure gauge, power usage monitor and oil temp and pressure displays.
When you're not driving spiritedly on your favourite country road, the Stelvio Q now also offers new semi-autonomous driving aids that include Level 2 active cruise control with traffic jam assist and blind spot assist.
The updates mean the Stelvio Q can now drive, steer, brake and accelerate by itself on the highway.
Under the bonnet, there's been no tinkering by Alfa, with the Stelvio Quadrifoglio still pumping out a mighty 375kW and 600Nm of torque – enough for the all-wheel drive SUV to hit 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and top out at 283km/h.
There's no word yet on when we'll see the updated Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, nor how the facelift will affect its $149,900 price tag.
