After eight instalments, it has appeared that Dom and the crew have run out of land to race on so space is the next frontier. As seen in the second full F9 trailer released this week, a rocket-powered Pontiac Fiero will be blasting into space.
In F9, fan favourites including Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Tej Parker (Ludacris) and Magdalene Shaw (Helen Mirren) return and face off against Dom's younger brother Jakob Toretto (John Cena) to stop his world-shattering plot.
The movie will also feature snippets of the beloved Brian O'Conner, played by the late Paul Walker, who died in 2013.
The long-awaited ninth instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise has been confirmed for release in Aussie cinemas from June 17. It was originally slated to come out in 2019 before Universal Pictures pushed it to 2020 to make way for the Hobbs & Shaw film. The May 2020 release date was then bumped several times due to COVID-19.
Justin Lin, the director behind Tokyo Drift and the proceeding three Fast and Furious films returns to direct F9. He has also signed on to direct the 10th and 11th instalments which will conclude the ‘Fast Saga’. Although the saga will end, expect several spinoffs.
