Ford Performance Vehicles will celebrate its most successful year yet at its traditional annual FPV Open Day on February 25.
The Melbourne-based Ford go-fast arm eclipsed its own sales records for the first, second and fourth quarters of 2006, selling a total of 2144 FPV-badged vehicles in the calendar year.
Managing Director Sak Ryopponen said the result was "well earned in a challenging economic climate."
Mr Ryopponen said the year-end result was also a vote of confidence for FPV's model mix. "With the introduction of the luxury-based Force 6 (see
) and Force 8 in the fourth quarter we have a strong presence in all of the market segments we want to compete in," he said.FPV will celebrate at its tenth consecutive running of its family fun day -- and you're invited. The now traditional FPV Open day takes place at the company's headquarters in Campbellfield, in Melbourne's north.
According to FPV spokesperson, Steve Colquhoun, hundreds of cars will be displayed by FPV, Tickford and Ford enthusiasts from all over Australia. Also on display will be an "eye-popping concept vehicle" designed by FPV's technical partner, Prodrive Australia.
The day will see FPV open the doors to its vehicle manufacturing and engine plants, and Ford Performance Racing will host tours of its workshop and race transporter.
With over 10,000 ardent Blue Oval fans expected to turn up, FPV says it will be laying on competitions, giveaways, displays and food to keep the entire family busy for the day.
Entry is by gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to FPV's charity of choice, Guide Dogs Victoria.
