Aston Martin has released a teaser for what looks like a faster, more extreme version of its entry 2021 Aston Martin Vantage coupe ahead of its reveal on March 22.
No details accompany the darkened preview image released overnight, but the large rear spoiler, bespoke rims and aggressive side strakes suggest a performance boost over the standard model.
Tellingly, the car teased in the image is painted in the same colour scheme as the Aston Martin Vantage safety car that will be used for the 2021 F1 season, suggesting the model that will be revealed on Monday will feature many of its updates.
If so, the big change under the bonnet will be a power increase, with the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 wound up from 375kW to 394kW. Peak torque is expected to remain unchanged at 685Nm.
Like the safety car, the eight-speed auto is expected to be sharpened up with more "precision and control" during upshifts and downshifts.
The faster Vantage is also expected to produce around the same 156kg of downforce at 200km/h – 60kg more than the standard car.
Expect plenty of chassis reinforcements and suspension upgrades for those who use their Aston for track days, plus the upgraded cooling system borrowed from the Aston Martin GT4 race car.
A stripped-out interior is likely, but the faster Vantage that could be named 'AMR Pro' is not expected to get a full roll cage, six-point harness and unforgiving bucket race seats.
All will be revealed on March 22.
