Ferrari 458 Spider observed in Melbourne

Gene led a convoy of 64 Ferraris from the past in a cavalcade to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the marque's presence in Australia. While the 458 Spider is yet to be released locally, the launch of the car is just months away, around the middle of the year, according to the distributor for the brand, Ateco Automotive.
When it arrives in Australia officially, the 458 Spider will go on sale for just under $600,000 ($590,000). Money alone won't secure this car however, with the first 18 months of production already spoken for, says Ateco in the press release for the car. The new owner will get a direct-injected 4.5-litre V8 developing 425kW and 540Nm. The drive is channeled to the 20-inch rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. 235/35 ZR20 tyres at the front are mounted on 8.5-inch wheels, complemented by the 295/35 ZR20 tyres on the 10.5-inch alloys at the rear. Kerb weight (dry) is 1430kg, according to manufacturer's specifications, and just 42 per cent sits over the front wheels. The remaining 58 per cent is perched over the rear.
Ferrari claims the car will see a top speed of 320km/h and reach 100km/h from a standing start in 3.4 seconds.
