Geelong company Carbon Revolution has been revealed as a key supplier for the new Ferrari 488 Pista supercar.
The Australian venture, which has already won prestigious contracts to develop and supply wheels for the Ford GT and Mustang GT350, was revealed as an important stakeholder during the Pista's official unveiling in Geneva this week.
One of 21 'strategic partners' chosen for Ferrari's 458 Speciale successor, the Geelong outfit is responsible for the prized supercar's carbon-fibre wheels.
Carbon Revolution chief executive Jake Dingle told the Australian Financial Review the company's offering was a perfect fit with the $645,000 machine.
"[Ferrari] are an innovation leader," Dingle told the AFR. "They put extreme demands on technology that they employ in a car.
"So it's a really strong signal in terms of technology and it's a great achievement for us to meet their requirements."
The Pista takes the regular 488 GTB and makes it lighter, faster and more agile. Officially, it's the most powerful road-going V8 Ferrari in history.
Carbon Revolution's part in the process was to produce wheels that are 40 per cent lighter than the donor car.
Dingle hopes the latest coup is just the beginning for the Geelong company.
Carbon Revolution is said to be considering its options to raise a further $100 million to fund an expansion to its Waurn Ponds plant in Geelong.
This comes as the company prepares for "multiple committed programs" with manufacturers around the world, including wheels for a reported SUV.
