The Finer Details

Available locally in the first half of 2027 in Coupe and Spider forms, the 849 Testarossa is the most expensive new Ferrari available to order locally, kicking off from $932,648 (plus on-road costs) for the Coupe and $1,015,589 for the Spider.

Hosting dealers, prospective buyers, existing owners and ‘friends of Ferrari’, the Italian supercar brand flew out a left-hand drive example of its new 330km/h hybrid exotic for the local Sydney debut, just a month after its global reveal.

The 849 Testarossa is a replacement and indeed an evolution of the SF90 Stradale.

The 849 designation denotes eight cylinders and 49cc per cylinder. The Testarossa name has returned with the 849, originating in 1956 with the Ferrari 500 TR to describe the colour of the cam covers before being revived as a model name for the famous 1984 Ferrari Testarossa.

The 849’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 plug-in hybrid system outputs a combined 772kW/842Nm (up 37kW/38Nm over the SF90).

And there are some eye-watering claimed performance stats to match: 0-100km/h in 2.3 seconds, 0-200km/h in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 330km/h.

Stopping power with the carbon ceramic brakes is equally impressive, slowing the 1570kg (dry) coupe from 100-0km/h in 28.5m.

The Road Ahead

“Demand is quite evenly split, however we anticipate a higher number of coupes to arrive as production of [the] Spider versions is typically a smaller proportion of the overall volume,” a local Ferrari spokesperson said.

As for expected local sales numbers, Ferrari would only say that Australian orders have been open since the global premiere and local demand was very strong in both here and in New Zealand.

The new 849 Testarossa will become the most expensive Ferrari available here, overtaking the current range-topping Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider ($886,800), when the first examples arrive in 2027.

How much does the 2025 Ferrari 849 Testarossa cost?
Coupe $932,648
Spider $1,015,589
* Prices exclude on-road costs
