Long known for its ability to get the jump on rivals on road or track, Italian supercar maker Ferrari has now beat the esteemed folk from the Guinness World Record to claim a new world record.
Though still officially unratified at the time of writing the Maranello marque is confident its gathering of 964 Ferraris at the UK’s Silverstone circuit last weekend is the biggest ever parade of Ferrari cars. The claimed new world record easily eclipses the previous record of 490 cars dating back to 2008 at Japan’s Fuji Speedway Circuit.
Formula One star Felipe Massa was the guest of honour, leading the parade at the wheel of a 458 Spider, while Marc Gene attended as a special coach for drivers taking part in the F1 Clienti programmes.
The gathering produced an unprecedented spectacle for all Prancing Horse fans, who no doubt thought they’d died and gone to heaven as they soaked up the unprecedented display, including an appearance by the latest F12 Berlinetta.
The ambitious attempt was part of the Ferrari Racing Days event organised by the British Ferrari Owners Club, with the Italian marque donating £5 for every car in the parade to BEN, a British charity that supports employees from the motor industry and their families.
The company said all necessary conditions were met for a world record to be ratified and put before the Guinness World Records Limited Commission, which is set to confirm the record by the end of this week.
