Ferrari SP America leaked

The second car in as many weeks to have rolled out of Ferrari's ultra-exclusive Special Projects division, the Ferrari SP America, has been spotted in the raw.

First published on TheSupercarKids website, the V12-powered SP America arrives hot on the heels of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta TRS one-off creation, but the restyling approach is from a very different angle.

The custom-crafted SP America is also based on the $700,000 rear-drive front-engine F12 Berlinetta and though the design is not as wild as the jaw-dropping open-top TRS, a subtle approach is what the well-heeled Ferrari customer requested.

It's clear there's a touch of Mustang fastback to the rear-pillars, combining with the Fezza's already pumped rear wheel arches to give the car a muscular, almost Pony car look – hence the 'America' moniker.

Triple vents at the bonnet's leading edge add another muscle car element while providing extra cooling for the car's 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated 12-cylinder engine, the second most obvious visual tweak.

The front-mounted V12 powerplant kicks out 545kW and 690Nm, and though it's not clear if Ferrari Special Projects tweaked the engine, even in its normal state of tune it’s a killer.

It propels the 1630kg (approx.) Ferrari from 0-100km/h in just 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 340km/h. Power finds its way to the road via seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle-shifters for easy access to the engine's sweet spot.

No price has been attached to the SP America, but anything touched by Ferrari Special Projects doesn't come cheap and the anonymous owner is expected to have shelled out a seven-figure sum to bestow the Italian exotic with the American muscle aesthetic.
