Ferrari spectacular headed to Australia

Ferrari Racing Days to show off the best of the breed Down Under

Australia will become a venue for Ferrari Racing Days, now that the legendary Italian supercar brand has elected to take control of distribution in Australia.

One of the key reasons nominated by Ferrari for annexing local distribution from Ateco Automotive’s sister company European Automotive Imports is to establish a closer relationship with its local customers.

And an edition of Ferrari Racing Days in Australia is seen as an important way of achieving that.

Held at racing circuits, the red-blooded automotive spectaculars include displays and laps by past and present Ferrari road and racing cars, including the experimental XX prototypes, as well as a round of the regional 458 Challenge series.

A Ferrari Racing Days event was held in Abu Dhabi two weeks ago and another one will be held at the Suzuka circuit in Japan next April.

“The first Ferrari to come to Australia was a race car and Australians have a huge desire for race cars and motorsport, so we will be bringing Ferrari Racing Days to Australia,” confirmed Ferrari Australasia managing director Herbert Appleroth.

“This is a concept that brings the Ferrari racing world to Australia, bringing the Formula One cars, bringing the 458 Challenge one-make series … it means the whole Ferrari experience coming to Australia.

“They are investments that really only the factory can bring,” he said.

“It is a huge undertaking. In Japan next month we have more infrastructure than the F1 Grand Prix. It is a huge show.”

Mr Appleroth said no date or venue had been selected for the Australian event as yet, nor how often it would come here.

Ferrari customers are invited to these events, where they are hosted and offered exclusive activities such as track laps and driving instruction.

However, members of the public are also allowed to attend if they wish. The 2013 Suzuka Ferrari Racing Days is expecting 40,000 spectators.
