Ferrari supercar to debut in Geneva

Hoax Ferrari announcement was on the money but hoodwinked dozens of respected automotive websites locally and abroad
Motoring.com.au has confirmed through unnamed Ferrari sources that the Ferrari F150 supercar will debut at Geneva.
However the news follows a fake confirmation announcement yesterday that caught out several major websites.
At least one Australian website and dozens of international car sites were duped into reporting that Ferrari had confirmed its all-new flagship super car would make its debut at the Geneva motor show, sourcing a post from a fake Ferrari Instagram photo-sharing website.
Apart from the shoddy spelling on the fake Ferrari site’s short statement, alarm bells should have sounded at the website’s spelling – OficialFerrari. Ferrari has since confirmed it does not operate an Instagram page.
Nevertheless, the post had almost 10,000 likes and 200 comments and created significant digital ripples in cyberspace.
The 12-cylinder, mid-engined successor to the Ferrari Enzo is known within the company as F150, but may take the F70 name when launched in early March in Geneva. It is based around a light-weight carbon-fibre monocoque (single-shell frame) and could output a combined 630kW from its 6.3-litre V12 (550kW) petrol engine and HY-KERS electric motor (80kW).
Making use of several F1-derived technologies, including the likely inclusion of ‘intelligent' aerodynamics to adjust and improve stability at high speeds, it is understood that the highly-anticipated super car will commence local deliveries by December.
Unnamed Ferrari sources revealed to motoring.com.au that a “handful” of potential customers have seen the finished car, and were told it would be launched in Geneva.
It is understood that around half a dozen Australians have expressed serious interest in the Ferrari F150/F70 supercar even though the expected million-dollar vehicle cannot be sold for road use in Australia.
However the exclusively left-hand drive vehicle can be driven on closed circuits and race tracks within Australia.
