Ferrari teases facelifted FF

Invite to prestigious unveiling of updated four-wheel drive supercar shows off glimpse of revised FF

Ferrari has used the invite for the facelifted FF launch to tease some of the detailed changes to the all-wheel drive supercar.

Look closely at the invite and it appears the images are of a new front grille and air intakes. This back up earlier spy images that appeared to suggest much of the sheet metal of the current model carries over.

According to the rumours, the big changes occur under the bonnet where it’s speculated the current engine, the 486kW/683Nm 6.3-litre V12, might have been upgraded with a hybrid-drive electric motor for more (combined) torque – possibly in lieu of the current Power Transfer Unit for drive to the front wheels.

The other rumour is the current car’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be junked for a new eight-speed unit.

Finally, some commentators are suggesting Ferrari might also offer a cheaper version of the FF that will lift its engine from the new 488 GTB. If true, it will come equipped with 500kW/760Nm 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8. That means the V12 hybrid set-up will have to come with a big increase in power to justify its extra cost over any entry-level V8.

Other changes to the FF will include a new infotainment and satnav upgrade and the introduction of more personalisation and better finishes.
