Ferrari appears to have repeated its trick of using an invite to a VIP unveiling of one of its cars to tease the car itself.
Instagram user @Salonondrin helped break the story when he posted a picture of what’s being described as an ‘invitation box’ to an exclusive special VIP event that was held last weekend.
The carbon-fibre box, that was claimed to have been sent out to customers loyal to the prancing horse brand, clearly depicts an outline of, what appears to be, a roadster version of the current sold-out hypercar.
Inside, according to the Instagram user, is a key to gain access to the prestigious unveiling.
Just 499 LaFerrari coupes were made back in 2013 when the hypercar first went on sale but the roadster is set to be even more exclusive with only around 200 Spyders rumoured to be planned for production.
Anticipated to cost around $2 million (plus local taxes), the droptop Ferrari hybrid is expected to come with the same 588kW 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 as the coupe that combines a 120kW electric motor in a HY-KERS petrol-electric drive system to deliver total output of 708kW/700Nm.
The LaFerrari Spyder is expected to reach 100km/h in less than three seconds, continuing to 200km/h in less than seven seconds, 300km/h in less than 15 seconds and topping out in excess of 350km/h.
More information, as well as the official unveil is expected in the coming weeks.
