Ferrari chief Luis Camilleri has confirmed an all-new mid-engine supercar will be unveiled this year that's tipped to come with the car-maker's next-generation V8 hybrid powertrain.
According to
, the all-new supercar will combine a V8 with an electric motor and will sit at the top of the Ferrari sports car range.Citing a Ferrari insider, the outlet reports the new offering will benefit from an F1-derived kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) that was last used on the 2013 La Ferrari.

Claimed to produce more power than the recently launched 488 Pista, it's expected the electrified Ferrari will top 600kW and churn out as much as 1000Nm of torque.
Despite carrying a significant weight penalty over the lightweight 488 Pista, the unnamed hybrid supercar is expected to hit 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds and 200km/h in around 7.0 seconds - making it one of the fastest Ferrari road cars of all time.
Towering performance aside, the move to an electrified powertrain is chiefly to slash emissions: lowering the car-maker's total fleet average CO2 output.

According to the source, the new supercar will not make it to the Geneva motor show but will be unveiled later this year at a specific VIP event with the first deliveries set for 2020.
Expect the new V8 hybrid to reappear on many more future Ferraris following the car-maker's assertion that, come 2022, more than 60 per cent of all models will have an electrified powertrain.
Ferrari's boss has also reportedly told investors that its Purosangue SUV reception has been very positive among its customers.

"It is a segment that's clearly growing," Camilleri said, referring to the growth in SUVs. "A lot of our customers would love to have a Purosangue to use on a daily basis."
Off the back of the new models, the Ferrari boss said the car-maker may finally reach its aim of selling more than 10,000 cars annually.
In 2018, the famous supercar-maker sold 9251 cars.
