The fallout from the Global Financial Crisis is still raining down upon us, so beat 'Carmaggedon' with this hard-wearing 1956 Ferret Scout Car.
Shannons is offering the Ferret, which first saw service with the Australian Army, in its Sydney auction tonight. For a military enthusiast, the Ferret is, if not quite a solid-gold investment, at least a bulletproof one. According to Shannons, the Ferret is likely to pull between $12,000 and $18,000.
Among the other lots in the auctioneer's catalogue is an R129 Mercedes-Benz SL600 from 1993 (also pictured). This vehicle is expected to feature between $25,000 and $35,000. That's a lot of car for the money, which is barely 10 per cent of the car's original purchase price, by the way.
If you like your Mustangs, there's a 1970 Boss 302 valued at between $75,000 and $85,000. Or perhaps the Rolls-Royce 20/25 from 1933 (guiding value $70,000 to $80,000) is more your style. Splitting the blanket is the 1969 Lancia Fulvia 1600HF Rallye Coupe, for a price somewhere between $55,000 and $65,000.
The auction will take place at Unit B, 12 Frederick Street, St.Leonards from 7.00pm tonight.
