Ford Australia has taken a razor to its Fiesta pricelist, slashing prices to the tune of up to $1500 – and adding equipment into the bargain.
Effective immediately, the Fiesta CL five-door hatch now kicks off at $15,490 – a saving of $1500. And arguably the value quotient has been improved further than that – in addition to the price cut, the CL is now fitted with side curtain/thorax and driver’s knee airbags as standard, as well as a seatbelt reminder.
Standard on LX and Zetec grade Fiestas, the safety equipment was previously offered on CL as a $600 option. The change gifts the entire Fiesta range a five-star ANCAP rating.
Pricing changes are not limited to the CL hatch, however. The new Fiesta pricelist has LX manual from $17,790 and the range-topping Zetec manual priced from $20,490.
The new LX pricing is a saving of $1200, while the Zetec is now $500 cheaper for both petrol and diesel variants.
Ford quietly dropped the Fiesta sedan from its local line-up in July. According to Ford Australia spokesperson, Neil McDonald, the sedan accounted for "a very low percentage" of overall Fiesta sales Down Under.
