The 2022 BMW M3 Touring will make its long-awaited global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 23, when it will take to the hill along with the savage BMW M4 CSL.
Three examples of the M3 Touring will be presented to the public at the fabled British automotive event; one in standard form and the other kitted out with a series of genuine Performance Parts.
Even with the reveal a little over two weeks away, BMW hasn’t revealed any extra titbits of information surrounding its looming Audi RS 4 Avant fighter, but we do know it will be joined by a wealth of iconic vehicles from BMW M’s 50-year history, including the widely lusted after BMW M1 supercar.
Other headline acts will comprise the original E30 BMW M3 and the landmark E46 BMW M3 CSL, plus a BMW M5 CS, BMW 850i Convertible, BMW i4 M50, BMW i7, BMW iX1 and BMW iX M60.
Racing icons like the BMW M1 Procar, a WTCC E90 BMW 3 Series, the LeMans-winning 1999 BMW V12 LMR and even the next chapter of M’s motorsport, the BMW M LMDh race car due to make its race debut next year.
Once the dust settles in regard to the M3 Touring, however, we suspect all eyes will be on the BMW Concept XM as the nearly-ready SUV flagship makes its first public appearance – some 44 years since the first and last standalone M car (the M1) broke cover.
The XM was first teased on November 18 last year, some 15 months after the inaugural M3 wagon was announced.
Hype surrounding both models has been justifiably high, but it’s been the flying five-door M3 that’s garnered more of the attention as BMW M executed a prolonged and elaborate teaser campaign over the past year or so, including anything from cameo appearances to dedicated promo videos.
We’ll be sure to bring you everything there is to know about the first ever BMW M3 Touring on June 23.
