Mercedes-Benz has released the first teaser clip of its all-new C-Class, which is expected to make its world debut at the Detroit motor show in January before arriving in Australia during the third quarter of 2014.
Visually, the new C resembles Merc’s larger S-Class externally and, judging by the brief glimpse in the video, it appears the full-sized limo has been a source of inspiration for the C-Class’ new interior too.
The new C-Class’s cabin features luxurious details such as retro-styled chromed vents and a high-quality Burmester sound system, along with slabs of wood trim.
Mercedes-Benz is intent on taking the fight up to BMW’s latest 3 Series, Audi’s A4 and the new Lexus IS. Based on Daimler’s new Modular Rear Drive (MRA) chassis architecture, the redesigned W205 C-Class will bring a host of fundamental revisions, including a lighter body and a high-tech options list.
Mercedes promises to satisfy even the fussiest of technophiles with a more advanced version of its COMAND in-car connectivity and entertainment system, which features a circular dial and all-new Lexus-style controller designed to fit in the palm of the user’s hand.
As we’ve reported, next year’s all-new sedan will be the first of four next-gen C-Class body derivatives, including wagon, coupe and hatchback models – all riding on a 100mm-longer wheelbase that will finally make the C-Class longer overall than the A-Class-based CLA sedan.
